The UK will have nine public holidays in 2022, usually there are eight, but there will be an added one to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The public holidays, or bank holidays, are celebrated throughout the year on religious, historical, and special occasions.
For many people, public holidays offer an opportunity for a short break, as they fall on a Friday or a Monday. This allows for an extended four day break by incorporating an additional discretionary holiday day. In 2022, there are already two 4 day weekends: the Easter weekend from Friday the 15th to Monday the 18th of April, and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend from Thursday the 2nd to Sunday the 5th of June.
